1. Summary

This service pack is compatible with SpeechMagic 6.1 and SpeechMagic 6.1 Service Pack 1. It solves a number of problems and issues reported following the release of SpeechMagic 6.1 Service Pack 1. This service pack is cumulative: it contains all fixes made to SpeechMagic 6.1, from the commercial release until 2008-04-28, including fixes previously shipped with SP1 and fix packs.

Please report your feedback to speechmagic@philips.com.

Note: Service Pack 2 replaces the Service Pack 1 version of SpeechMagic 6.1. All new hotfixes and fix packs will be issued based on the SP2 code only.

3. Installation

For new installations, install SpeechMagic 6.1 SP2 directly from the CD.

For existing installations, do the following:

  1. Make sure that all SpeechMagic applications and services are closed on the Workstation you plan to run the .exe on. If you are upgrading from a version lower than SP1 all SpeechMagic applications and services on all PCs must be closed because the program requires exclusive access to SpeechMagic.

  2. Run the SM610B543_SP02_20080428.exe on the selected SpeechMagic Workstation. This file will update your SpeechMagic File Server location for SP2.

  3. If automatic updates are enabled, either restart every SpeechMagic Workstation or stop and re-start the SpeechMagic service on every workstation; the Workstation will be updated automatically. If automatic updates are not enabled, restart Workstation Setup and select Modify.

For detailed instructions on how to install this release, see the SpeechMagic Installation Online Help (sminst.chm).

Uninstalling the service pack

Due to a change in the database design, it is not possible to uninstall this service pack.

SpeechMagic InterActive

To upgrade from SpeechMagic InterActive 6.1 or SpeechMagic InterActive 6.1 SP1 to SpeechMagic InterActive 6.1 SP2, install SpeechMagic InterActive 6.1 SP2 either via SpeechMagic Workstation Setup or automatic workstation update or by installing the stand-alone setup (after the upgrade of the SpeechMagic File Server has been completed).

Note: This SpeechMagic version contains files which allows Philips Speech Recognition Systems to react quickly to reported field issues (*.PDBs).

Upgrading from SpeechMagic 5.1 SR1 SP4 to SpeechMagic 6.1 SP2 is possible via the SpeechMagic Upgrade tools. These are available in the Tools folder on the SpeechMagic 6.1 CD.

To complete the upgrade, the SpeechMagic ConText Adaptation System task needs to be run.

Acoustic Adaptation

Acoustic Adaptation of very long dictations (more than 4 hours) might fail on slow recognition PCs.

General

Drivers

After restarting PCs which have Windows Vista or Windows XP installed, SpeechMike Pro USB might not work. This affects the SpeechMike Pro audio device. This results in nothing happening during playback or when recording sound files.

Solution: Upgrade the firmware of SpeechMike to version 1.18. Contact PSP Dictation Systems support (support@dictation.philips.com) for more information. [PSP00034825]

Citrix environment

If a SpeechMagic Workstation is installed on a Citrix Server, the Audio Wizard will first start the sound system check (smcore) but the function is always returned as FALSE.

Workaround: Disable the sound system check via the registry: browse for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Philips Speech\SpeechMagic\BackEnd\6.1.0\SmCore. Right-click and select New, DWORD value then rename the value to DisableSoundSystemCheck. Right-click the value, select Modify and set the value to 1. [PSP00041841]
