Definitions ============== - The term "SpeechMike 1" includes following type numbers: 6264,6274,6284,6294 - The term "SpeechMike" includes following type numbers: 5260, 5262, 5270, 5272, 5274, 5276, 5282, 5172 2. Known problems ================= - Opening existing sound files on Windows 2000 Error message: Unable to open file. The file is currently in use by another application. If you receive this error message, check whether the specified file is currently selected in Windows Explorer with Web view configured. - Power Save mode When Laptops go into system standby mode and hard disk sleep mode, they must be returned to normal operation mode before recording can start. - Installing SpeechMike 1 Pro USB on Windows 98 SE Windows 98 SE may stop responding during restart after you have installed SpeechMike 1 Pro USB. If this happens open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del. Select RUNDLL32.EXE and click End Task. The restart process will continue normally. - SpeechMike 1 and Logitech MouseWare software on Windows 98 SE The SpeechMike tab in the Mouse properties dialog box is deleted when Logitech MouseWare software is installed. Reinstall SpeechMike to restore the tab to the Mouse properties dialog box. - Infrared Adapters on a laptop with Windows 98 SE/Me Infrared Adapters may conflict with your SpeechMike when used on a laptop with Windows 98 SE/Me. If this occurs, disable the Infrared Adapter to work with the SpeechMike. - SpeechMike USB When recording with any SpeechMike from the USB product range in any of the supported Windows operating systems, gaps in the recording may occur. For Windows XP, this problem should be solved by applying Service Release 1. For Windows 2000, a hotfix is available for download at: www.dictation.philips.com http://www.dictation.philips.com Go to the Product Support/Download section. - Windows XP When switching users under Windows XP, the SpeechMike Pro LFH 6174 will no longer work. Workaround: Restart your PC. - SpeechExec and Driver & Utility might set up the Control Application to different locations on the PC. It is highly recommended that you remove the older version of Control Application. 3. Problems solved in build 140 ================================ - Control Application a.) Disabled record button sequence: With the enabled record button sequence wrong commands have been sent to the assigned application. b.) Instruction button configuration removed for SpeechMike Pro: As there is no separate Instruction button on SpeechMike Pro the cofiguration option is obsolete. - Device Configuration Tool The tool now supports SpeechMike with Firmware lower than FW 1.09. Restriction: trackball speed cannot be changed. 4. New Functions and features ============================== - Support SpeechMike with analogue microphone connector - Drivers The drivers now include the new SpeechMike Barcode scanner - Device Configuration Tool a.) Firmware version is shown in the Status bar for the connected device. b.) The tool now supports the SpeechMike Barcode Scanner. c.) A simple mode user interface makes it now more convenient to configure the SpeechMike according to individual needs. - Barcode Configuration Tool The barcode configuration tool supports the new SpeechMike Barcode Scanner. - New Firmware Upgrade Wizard available The new Firware upgrade wizard makes it easier to update the SpeechMike firmware. 5. Recording format configuration ================================= In SpeechMike Test Recorder, select Preferred Quality from the Options menu. - Supported recording formats: Format Attributes ----------------------------------------------- PCM All attributes supported LPCBB 16 kHz Mono CELP 16 kHz Mono GSM6.10 8 kHz Mono IMA-ADPCM 8 kHz Mono CCITT u-law, A-law 8 kHz Mono 6. Control Application special commands ======================================= The Control Application provides a set of commands which can be used to control Windows applications such as Microsoft Office 97 and Internet Explorer 3.0 or higher. The following commands are supported: Command Action ---------------------------------------------------------------- Scroll up (X) Scrolls the cursor up on the page Range: 1 - 10 Scroll down (X) Scrolls the cursor up on the page Range: 1 - 10 Zoom in Internet Explorer: enlarges the text size Office 97: zooms in Zoom out Internet Explorer: reduces the text size Office 97: zooms out Go back Goes to the previous page in Internet Explorer Go forward Goes to the next page in Internet Explorer Pan Enables quick positioning in large documents (X) can be replaced by a number. If no number is given the screen is scrolled one unit.
